Someone asked me last week whether collagen actually works. I gave them an answer they didn't love: it depends what you were expecting, and it's slower than the internet told you.

Collagen is a structural protein — it's a large part of what gives skin its firmness and bounce. Marine collagen is sourced from fish rather than cattle, and "peptides" means the protein has been broken down into much smaller fragments so it mixes and absorbs more easily than raw collagen would.
That's it. It's a protein, taken as a supplement.
The timeline nobody wants to hear
If a brand promises you visible change in a week, that's marketing, not biology. Skin turns over slowly. The research on collagen supplementation generally runs on the order of weeks to months, not days, and the people who report the clearest results are the ones who were consistent for the whole stretch.
